Small animals make great pets for adoption, and we have several at our shelter still looking for loving homes. Small animals take up a small area of your home, and a smaller area on your budget. The best benefit of small animals is the fun interaction and a bond you will both enjoy! Whether you own a guinea pig, rabbit or a hamster, they will thrive with the simple enrichment you can give them each day. There are many sweet animals, small and large, looking for their forever home. Take the Meet your Match® survey and find your perfect match.

Sarah’s Enthusiasm Shines
Sarah Stewart is a long-time youth volunteer who has been a part of the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch team for the past year. Enough good things can’t be said about her, and our days are made easier when she’s here.
Sarah is always happy to put in extra work and extra time when needed, and always offers a friendly smile and helping hand to our visitors. With a deep passion for animals, Sarah hopes to pursue studies related to the animal field and keep benefiting animal lives wherever she goes.
Our cats, dogs and bunnies to name a few are happier and healthier thanks to you Sarah!

Meet “Benji” our Friends for Life! Walk™ Spokes Animal
“Benji” found his perfect match last July after meeting Debbi at the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch. Debbi didn’t plan on adopting a dog that day, but as she was leaving, this lovable little guy popped his head out of his enclosure and it was love at first sight! A few days later, the adoption was finalized and Benji is now in his forever home. He spends his days having playmates with his black lab friend, snuggling with his new mom, going for walks and just relaxing.
To support dogs in need of a forever home like Benji, join the Friends for Life! Walk™ in Petawawa, on September 19, 2015 or donate to Benji’s personal fund raising page.

Keep your Pets Cool this Summer
It’s summer time!!! Bring on the beach days and outdoor fun.
It’s important to stay cool during these hot days ahead. While humans can take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke, your pets rely on you to keep them cool and safe.
There are a number of things you can do to keep your pet from overheating. Read our latest blog post Keeping your Pet Cool this Summer for great tips on keeping your pets safe.
And remember to visit nohotpets.ca, take the pledge NOT to leave your pets unattended in hot vehicles and share the message with family and friends.
We can all do our part in keeping pets safe this summer. Call 310-SPCA if you suspect an animal in danger.

Newshound is Getting
a Make-Over
It’s time to take Newshound to the next level and we need your help! In order to make the Ontario SPCA newsletter the “must read” of all newsletters, we need your feedback.
Next month, rather than sending our usual edition of Newshound, we will be sending you a short survey to better understand what it is you want to see in the Ontario SPCA newsletter.
So if you have any suggestions, please make note of them and check your inbox mid August with a link to provide us with feedback. Your input is important to us!
We thank you for your loyal readership and from all the animals at the Ontario SPCA, we wish you a happy and safe summer.
