 Goslings

This is something to quack about!

On June 15, 2015, two adorable goslings were brought into the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre. These adorable little balls of fur quickly won the hearts of the entire staff.

We were happy that it didn’t take long for them to waddle their way into the hearts of an incredible family. Not only does this family have a beautiful farm for them to grow up on, but plenty of love to give as well. Their new family says, “They are doing GREAT! They get a lot of attention from the family and fit right into our menagerie of chickens and ducks.”

There are many sweet animals looking for their forever home. Take the Meet your Match® survey and find your perfect match.

Proud of our Pride Volunteers

The Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre was pleased to be a part of Pride 2015 in Toronto!

We cannot thank our volunteers enough for participating on the day, and for helping us celebrate with thousands of patrons. We were happy to be providing pets with fresh water and snacks, as well as giving out t-shirts, bandannas and lots of fun goodies for owners and pets alike.

We had a blast, and hope to see everyone there next year!

 Olaf

Meet  “Olaf” our Friends for Life! Walk™ Spokes Animal

“Olaf” came into the care of the Ontario SPCA after being abandoned by his owner at a local vet clinic, with a badly broken leg.  The veterinarian determined that the only chance for Olaf to grow and develop normally was to have immediate surgery to try and repair the damage. He required a steel rod and screws to be inserted into the bone.

Olaf was looking at a long and slow recovery to repair the bone and muscle loss in his leg. Thankfully, with some care and support from the community, Olaf has made a full recovery from his injuries and has since been adopted into his forever home.
Olaf will be participating in the Friends for Life! Walk™ at the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre in Newmarket, on September 19th, 2015.

Help us care for animals just like Olaf by registering for the walk, or donating to Olaf’s personal fund raising page

Keep your Pets Cool this Summer

It’s summer time!!!  Bring on the beach days and outdoor fun.

It’s important to stay cool during these hot days ahead. While humans can take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke, your pets rely on you to keep them cool and safe.

There are a number of things you can do to keep your pet from overheating.  Read our latest blog post Keeping your Pet Cool this Summer for great tips on keeping your pets safe.

And remember to visit nohotpets.ca, take the pledge NOT to leave your pets unattended in hot vehicles and share the message with family and friends.

We can all do our part in keeping pets safe this summer.  Call 310-SPCA if you suspect an animal in danger.

Newshound is Getting a Make-Over

It’s time to take Newshound to the next level and we need your help!  In order to make the Ontario SPCA newsletter the “must read” of all newsletters, we need your feedback.

Next month, rather than sending our usual edition of Newshound, we will be sending you a short survey to better understand what it is you want to see in the Ontario SPCA newsletter.

So if you have any suggestions, please make note of them and check your inbox mid August with a link to provide us with feedback.  Your input is important to us!

We thank you for your loyal readership and from all the animals at the Ontario SPCA, we wish you a happy and safe summer.

 Annual Report

Report to the Communities

2014 was a busy year for the Ontario SPCA as we continue to be a strong, collaborative organization dedicated to the cultivation of a compassionate Ontario for all animals.

Through collaborative work in our communities and the generosity of our donors and supporters, we have provided thousands of animals with a second chance.

Last year, a total of 6,879 animals were adopted into a forever homes, 17,991 complaints were investigated resulting in 2,756 orders issued and 348 charges laid, and a total of 16,309 spay neuter procedures performed.

This could not have been possible without your help! Together we are making a difference in the lives of animals. Thank you!
