Adorable “Micha” Finds a Home
We were happy to see the playful “Micha” find a loving home with a new family. Micha was transferred from the Welland area, and right away we could tell she would need a special home where cuddles and playtime were a part of the daily routine.

Put your “Paws” Together for Jenn
Our “two paws up!” this month goes to Jenn Simms, who has been a volunteer with the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Branch for the past few months.
Jenn is involved with cat care as well dog walking. She is a great help around our shelter and we appreciate all of the care and pride she takes in her work.
Thank you Jenn for being a wonderful addition to our awesome volunteer team!

Meet “Ninja” our Friends for Life! Walk™ Spokes Animal
At only 11 months old, this very sweet dog had been in distress for most his life because he suffers from Demodex Mange, a condition that involves his own immune system wreaking havoc on his coat and skin. Unfortunately, because his condition went untreated far too long, he is now fighting to get healthy again.
Since being brought into the Ontario SPCA Midland & District Branch, Ninja has been to the vet, is on proper medication and put on a strict bathing regime. With a little care, he will start to become the handsome and regal looking boy he is. You can help animals just like Ninja by participating in the Friends for Life! Walk™ in Port McNicoll on September 20th 2015! Help Ninja raise money by registering for the walk, or donate to Ninja’s personal fund raising page.

Keep your Pets Cool this Summer
It’s summer time!!! Bring on the beach days and outdoor fun.
It’s important to stay cool during these hot days ahead. While humans can take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke, your pets rely on you to keep them cool and safe.
There are a number of things you can do to keep your pet from overheating. Read our latest blog post Keeping your Pet Cool this Summer for great tips on keeping your pets safe.
And remember to visit nohotpets.ca, take the pledge NOT to leave your pets unattended in hot vehicles and share the message with family and friends.
We can all do our part in keeping pets safe this summer. Call 310-SPCA if you suspect an animal in danger.

Newshound is Getting
a Make-Over
It’s time to take Newshound to the next level and we need your help! In order to make the Ontario SPCA newsletter the “must read” of all newsletters, we need your feedback.
Next month, rather than sending our usual edition of Newshound, we will be sending you a short survey to better understand what it is you want to see in the Ontario SPCA newsletter.
So if you have any suggestions, please make note of them and check your inbox mid August with a link to provide us with feedback. Your input is important to us!
We thank you for your loyal readership and from all the animals at the Ontario SPCA, we wish you a happy and safe summer.

Report to the Communities
2014 was a busy year for the Ontario SPCA as we continue to be a strong, collaborative organization dedicated to the cultivation of a compassionate Ontario for all animals.
Through collaborative work in our communities and the generosity of our donors and supporters, we have provided thousands of animals with a second chance.
Last year, a total of 6,879 animals were adopted into a forever homes, 17,991 complaints were investigated resulting in 2,756 orders issued and 348 charges laid, and a total of 16,309 spay neuter procedures performed.
This could not have been possible without your help! Together we are making a difference in the lives of animals. Thank you!
