It’s an Orange “Kiwi”!
Prospective adopter Helene had been browsing pets online from different shelters, looking for a new companion for her home. After completing our Meet Your Match® survey, she determined she was an “orange” colour. This matched her up with fellow orange pet “Kiwi”.
Helene and her sister came all the way from Ottawa to the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Branch to meet her match. It was love at first sight! We were thrilled to hear Kiwi has settled in wonderfully, and follows Helene everywhere. There are many sweet animals looking for their forever home. View all available animals.

Proctor & Gamble Employees Volunteer
For the second year in row, the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Branch has been lucky to be chosen for the Proctor & Gamble (P&G) Day of Caring.
For over 15 years P&G has been going out into the community and surrounding areas and volunteering at non-profit organizations. Each year, close to 500 employees donate a day of work for these organizations.
Derrick, John, Noreen, Karen, Heather, Denise, Tammy, Dawn, Celeste and George arrived at the shelter bright and early on June 15, 2015, for a day of yard clean up, gutter cleaning, gardening and general outside maintenance. After a full day of work and some time spent inside with the cats and dogs, the crew left the shelter looking fresh and clean and ready for summer.

Meet “Ziggy” our Friends for Life! Walk™ Spokes Animal
“Ziggy” came to the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Branch in May of 2013. He was one of the 140 Italian Greyhounds that were part of a large scale investigation. He was extremely underweight, terribly stressed and his teeth were in really bad shape.
When Tracy and Mike met Ziggy they realized that he would require a lot of care and attention to address his anxiety but they knew that they were the perfect people to adopt him.
Ziggy will be joining the Friends for Life! Walk™ in Brockville on September 20th, 2015 to help raise money for dogs like him. Help Ziggy raise money by registering for the walk, or donate to Ziggy’s personal fund raising page.

Keep your Pets Cool this Summer
It’s summer time!!! Bring on the beach days and outdoor fun.
It’s important to stay cool during these hot days ahead. While humans can take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke, your pets rely on you to keep them cool and safe.
There are a number of things you can do to keep your pet from overheating. Read our latest blog post Keeping your Pet Cool this Summer for great tips on keeping your pets safe.
And remember to visit nohotpets.ca, take the pledge NOT to leave your pets unattended in hot vehicles and share the message with family and friends.
We can all do our part in keeping pets safe this summer. Call 310-SPCA if you suspect an animal in danger.

Newshound is Getting
a Make-Over
It’s time to take Newshound to the next level and we need your help! In order to make the Ontario SPCA newsletter the “must read” of all newsletters, we need your feedback.
Next month, rather than sending our usual edition of Newshound, we will be sending you a short survey to better understand what it is you want to see in the Ontario SPCA newsletter.
So if you have any suggestions, please make note of them and check your inbox mid August with a link to provide us with feedback. Your input is important to us!
We thank you for your loyal readership and from all the animals at the Ontario SPCA, we wish you a happy and safe summer.
