Frostbitten “Chika” Warms our Hearts
When 6-year-old “Chika” came to the Ontario SPCA Kent County Branch in the middle of winter, she was suffering from frostbite on all four paws. She was very timid and needed a lengthy recovery period.
Often overlooked because of her age, Chika sat quietly in her kennel waiting for the perfect someone to come along. That perfect someone turned out to be Ainsley, who came to the shelter looking for an older companion. She said she was drawn to Chika’s soulful eyes and her sweet disposition. The two can now look forward to a lifetime of snuggles together! There are many sweet animals looking for their forever home. Take the Meet your Match® survey and find your perfect match.

High School Volunteer Liessell
Liessell Innes began volunteering at the Ontario SPCA Kent County Branch this past winter, excited to complete her 40 hours of volunteering for high school. She loves helping out with tasks like socializing the cats and dogs available for adoption, and lending a hand at special events.
By the time she had completed her required hours for school, Liessell was hooked. She even spearheaded an Ontario SPCA fundraiser at her school, called An Evening of Art featuring projects from students and graduates, and raised $1,140. We are grateful to passionate volunteers like Liessell!

Meet our Friends for Life! Walk™ Spokes Animals
At just six weeks old, “Shuko”, “Takha”, “Betty”, “Blaizz”, and “Marley” came to the Ontario SPCA Kent County Branch as part of an unwanted litter. The Shepherd-mix puppies were cared for in a foster home until they were old enough to be adopted.
It didn't take long for these cuties to find loving homes. Shuko and Takha were even adopted together! They recently enjoyed a family reunion, and are thrilled to represent the shelter at the Friends for Life! Walk™ in Chatham on September 19th, 2015, helping to raise money for animals with stories like theirs! Help Shuko, Takha, Betty, Blaizz, and Marley raise money by registering for the walk, or donate to their personal fund raising page.

Newshound is Getting
a Make-Over
It’s time to take Newshound to the next level and we need your help! In order to make the Ontario SPCA newsletter the “must read” of all newsletters, we need your feedback.
Next month, rather than sending our usual edition of Newshound, we will be sending you a short survey to better understand what it is you want to see in the Ontario SPCA newsletter.
So if you have any suggestions, please make note of them and check your inbox mid August with a link to provide us with feedback. Your input is important to us!
We thank you for your loyal readership and from all the animals at the Ontario SPCA, we wish you a happy and safe summer.
