“Jasmine” Finds Her Match

It can be a little daunting to start your pet adoption search. It’s too easy to fall for a pretty face, and you want to take ALL the pets home!

That’s why the Ontario SPCA Orillia Branch recommends the Meet Your Match® program, which matches pets with prospective new families.

This is how the lovely “Jasmine” found her perfect match and was adopted into a wonderful new home.

There are many sweet animals looking for their forever home. Take the Meet your Match® survey and find your perfect match.

Tag Day Volunteers Needed

We have one of our largest fundraisers of the year coming up in August, and we need your help! On Friday, August 14th and Saturday, August 15th, we require volunteers to assist with Tag Days.

Tag Days are a fun and easy way for residents to purchase ID tags for their pets, with proceeds benefitting the Ontario SPCA Orillia Branch.

If you can spare a few hours to help our shelter, please contact Carol Beard at 705-325-1304 or email cbeard@ospca.on.ca.

We look forward to seeing you there!

 Trixie

Meet  “Trixie” our Friends for Life! Walk™ Spokes Animal

“Trixie” came to the Ontario SPCA Orillia Branch as a stray. She had a sever skin infection and Demodex mange and needed immediate care to alleviate her discomfort. After being examined by the veterinarian, she was put on several rounds of medication until finally the right treatment was found.

Trixie has been living in foster care since January being cared for and loved by her new mom. She is recovering nicely in the comfort of her home and almost has her full coat back.

To help animals like Trixie, you can join our Friends for Life!  Walk™ in Orillia, on September 20th, 2015.
Help Trixie raise money by registering for the walk, or donate to Trixie’s personal fund raising page.

Keep your Pets Cool this Summer

It’s summer time!!!  Bring on the beach days and outdoor fun.

It’s important to stay cool during these hot days ahead. While humans can take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke, your pets rely on you to keep them cool and safe.

There are a number of things you can do to keep your pet from overheating.  Read our latest blog post Keeping your Pet Cool this Summer for great tips on keeping your pets safe.

And remember to visit nohotpets.ca, take the pledge NOT to leave your pets unattended in hot vehicles and share the message with family and friends.

We can all do our part in keeping pets safe this summer.  Call 310-SPCA if you suspect an animal in danger.

Newshound is Getting a Make-Over

It’s time to take Newshound to the next level and we need your help!  In order to make the Ontario SPCA newsletter the “must read” of all newsletters, we need your feedback.

Next month, rather than sending our usual edition of Newshound, we will be sending you a short survey to better understand what it is you want to see in the Ontario SPCA newsletter.

So if you have any suggestions, please make note of them and check your inbox mid August with a link to provide us with feedback.  Your input is important to us!

We thank you for your loyal readership and from all the animals at the Ontario SPCA, we wish you a happy and safe summer.
