Lara Jean Chorostecki reminds us that parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the windows slightly open. Please keep your pets' safety in mind; if you can't take them with you when you leave your car, leave them at home where they are safe.

Penny and her friends are ready for adoption

The Ontario SPCA has been caring for several horses over the last few months and we now have 11 horses ready to be adopted.  

We are looking for a good homes for Penny and her friends.

Peter is a dedicated and truly valued volunteer at the Ontario SPCA Orangeville & District Branch. No matter how big or small, Peter is always available to help out with a wide variety of requests and at a moment’s notice. 

He regularly helps out with the bottle drive, picking up bottles weekly from local restaurants around the community.

Nina the Cat

 

Nina Needs Your Help

A sweet stray cat was recently found living behind a shed in the Orillia area, trying to survive on scraps of food.  

She was brought into the Ontario SPCA Orillia Branch and soon transferred to a Vet Clinic to assess her injuries.   She was in bad shape and the wounds she sustained were extremely infected with live maggots.

NO HOT PETS!

As the hot summer weather continues into July and August, the Ontario SPCA reminds everyone NOT to leave your pet in your vehicle.  

If you see an animal suffering in the heat, contact your local SPCA, humane society or police services.

Recognizing the Signs of Heatstroke

It doesn’t have to be sunny to be hot!  Humid cloudy days can be just as dangerous if pets don’t have access to water and cool areas, this can result in heatstroke.

If heat stroke is suspected prompt veterinary medical attention is vital. Bring the pet into the shade and offer drinking water,  wet the fur immediately with lukewarm to cool water, not cold water.

CRIB – An Animal Shelter Like No Other

The Ontario SPCA‘s Central Region Investigations Building (CRIB) is unlike any other shelter you have seen.  It’s a place of rescue, relief and rehabilitation for animals who have suffered from cases of abuse and cruelty.

These animals come to CRIB sick, injured, and in some cases over-bred and broken.
