iAdopt for the Holidays Update

The Ontario SPCA is proud to announce that during iAdopt for the Holidays, Ontario SPCA Branches adopted out a total of 1,442 animals, surpassing our goal of 1,280. That’s a 12.7 percent increase in adoptions from last year! In conjunction with our participating Affiliate Communities, iAdopt for the Holidays saw a total of 1,836 animals go home across the province.

Thanks to iAdopt for the Holidays, these animals got to spend the holidays with their new families.

iAdopt will continue throughout the year; we encourage you to take advantage of this adoption campaign by adopting your forever family member from your local participating shelter.

To learn more about iAdopt, or to find your purrrfect match, please visit www.iadopt.ca.

iAdopt is also on Facebook.

 Val Graham

Thank you Val Graham!

After retiring from 31 years of teaching, Val approached the Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Branch and filled in an application form to volunteer.

Val was quickly recruited to work on fundraising for the Ontario SPCA, when another volunteer noticed that she had organized activities in the past. She started with craft shows and then helped out at the annual Furry Friends Feast. As a long standing OHL Sudbury Wolves season ticket holder, she approached the General Manager about a Sudbury Wolves SPCA night and that has become an annual event.

Val is a familiar face around the shelter always there to lend a helping hand. We thank Val very much for all her hard work and dedication.

Molly the Bull Terrier Gives Birth to Seven Puppies

Molly, a Bull Terrier currently at the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch, gave birth to seven puppies over the holiday season!

Molly was part of a large number of Bull Terriers that came in to the Ontario SPCA by a reputable breeder who surrendered the dogs to the Society after learning her current health would no longer allow to her care for the mass number of dogs.

She is quite an attentive mommy! Molly will be getting some privacy for a while as she gets to know her puppies.

Puppies are not yet available for adoption.

You can also view the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch’s Facebook page for more updates on Molly and her puppies.

Cold Weather Safety Tips

The cold weather is officially here and with this change in temperature comes the responsibility of keeping our pets toasty warm.

Keep in mind, if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet. Take a few preventative measures to ensure your pet stays safe and warm, like having an emergency pet survival kit on hand.

 Pet Rescue

Operation Pet Rescue

This past year alone the Ontario SPCA was involved in many large-scale investigations requiring urgent and extensive resources.

Rehabilitating rescued animals often requires months of veterinary care, special medication and food and socialization - making large demands on the Ontario SPCA's limited resources. Operation Pet Rescue members help us fund important programs like Animal Care & Protection and Ontario SPCA Rescue & Relief Services.

By joining the Operation Pet Rescue monthly program, you are part of a community of devoted animal lovers who help the Ontario SPCA respond quickly and effectively to animals in need of immediate protection and care.
