Getting Started

Hosting a National Cupcake Day™ Party is simple; all you need to do is follow these steps to “bake” a difference.

Step 1 - Set a date and mark your calendar

National Cupcake Day is officially held on Monday, February 23rd, 2015. Not able to participate on the actual day? No problem! You can hold your National Cupcake Day Party any time in January or February. Once you’ve worked out the date, time and location of your National Cupcake Day Party, mark it on your calendar and start brainstorming some ideas for fabulous, creative cupcakes!

Step 2 - Register online and personalize your Online Bakery

Register online and personalize your Online Bakery with stories and pictures showing off your passion for animals and how your supporters’ donations will change the lives of the animals who need us most. Be sure to include the details of your Cupcake Day party.

Step 3 -Tell everyone you’re fundraising (and why!)

From your Online Bakery you can send emails to all of your friends and co-workers announcing your delicious Cupcake Day party and asking them to visit your page and donate in exchange for a delicious cupcake. Be sure to use Facebook and Twitter. We also have some handy items in the Cupcake Host Welcome Package, which you will receive by mail within 10 days of your registration, and online in our Resources and Downloads page, including a poster, Recipe for Success fundraising guide, balloons and a sticker. It’s a great idea to ask supporters to donate in advance of the event. That way you can relax and enjoy your Cupcake Day party (it also cuts down on administrative costs, ensuring your donation dollars go further for the animals!).

Please note that Host Kits will not be sent out for those who register after Monday, February 16 as they will not arrive in time for National Cupcake Day.  Host Kit materials are available online for downloading here.

Step 4 - Bake up a storm and choose wisely

When baking cupcakes for National Cupcake Day, please consider using eggs from free range facilities. Also, consider making delicious vegan cupcakes. Your baking helps raise critically-needed funds for animals that are abused, abandoned, neglected or no longer wanted.

Step 5 - Hold the best Cupcake Day party ever

To make your National Cupcake Day Party extra special, decorate your venue with National Cupcake Day balloons and posters available in your Cupcake Host Welcome Package. Spice up your Party by decorating your cupcakes with an animal theme or hold fundraising, decorating or baking competitions.

Step 6 - Share your success with everyone

Show off your Cupcake Day party! Share your pictures on our National Cupcake Day Facebook page and Twitter. Your success will inspire others.

Step 7 - Say thank you

Don’t forget to send a special thank you to all your donors. Your Online Bakery features a list of everyone who donated online and a tool for sending thank you emails.

A free host kit during the registration process and all the information you need will be mailed to you within 10 business days.  Please be sure to consult with your school or other public institution to ensure you are following any food restrictions or guidelines, including nut free or healthy school initiatives before planning your Cupcake Day party.
