The award-winning “No Hot Pets” campaign, created by the Ontario SPCA, aims to remind pet owners of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer months.

Through the No Hot Pets online forum, citizens are asked to share the message about the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles (#nohotpets). In addition, pet owners are asked to go online and pledge to not leave their pets in their vehicles. Those who pledge will receive a free No Hot Pets window decal for their vehicles (while supplies last).

On October 12, 2012, the Ontario SPCA was awarded with the 2012 Summit award in Communications for their outstanding performance with their No Hot Pets campaign. The Communication Award recognizes the development and successful delivery of content, communication programs, strategies, initiatives and/or media that promotes a better environment for pets and people locally, nationally or internationally.

In the summer of 2014, the campaign reached over 20 million impressions online, received over 11,000 pledges and had 129 organizations/companies partner with the campaign across Canada.
