Thank you for your interest in our Working Cat Program!
The cats that we relocate are considered unadoptable as pets, due to varying levels of “feral” or unsocial behaviours. They most likely will not approach humans or solicit attention, or they may take a long time to trust you enough for touching. So for the most part they will avoid you and come out at night to eat and work to keep your property free from rodents.
Below is a list of requirements to be met for the property to be suitable. Please read through each statement thoroughly and click on "yes" in the first question below, indicating you understand and will comply with each requirement.
» The cat will require long term access to a suitable shelter like a barn, garage or warehouse
» The cat will require daily food and water put out for them as cats cannot live on hunting alone and feeding them will not reduce their inclination to hunt rodents
» To ensure the new cats do not immediately run away, they need to be confined for 3-4 weeks. They must be confined to an escape proof room like a tack room, garage, office, an extra large dog crate etc. that is outfitted with food and water bowls, bed or box(carrier) for sleeping (and hiding) and a litter pan. This time is necessary to teach the cats where their new home is, where their food is, who brings the food, and to get a general lay of the land
» All cats will be spay or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, ear tipped, treated for intestinal worms and external parasites (eg. fleas/ticks) and have an examination by a veterinarian; you will be provided with their health records
» There is no cost to you for the adoption of these cats but donations are always welcome to help sustain the program
» Once the adoption is complete any future veterinary care (including vaccinations) will be the responsibility of the owner.
