Braveheart needs your help!

Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch needs help to care for a puppy with a broken leg.

On Thursday June 20th the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch received a phone call from TOPDOG K9 Services doggy daycare and training facility Owner Operator, Kathy Currie-Eyers, explaining that a 14 week old white German Shepherd Dog Mix puppy was dropped off at their daycare. The person leaving the dog said that the animal had been dumped at her grandparents farm and sadly their family had no way of taking care of the animal. Currie explained that upon intake the dog it was noted as being very shy and nervous and wasn't using his back leg. The dog's toenail had been ripped off and was in severe pain. The puppy was taken to a veterinarian where X-rays revealed that dog required surgery as soon as possible to repair a broken back leg.

The Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch has taken the dog into their care and is working with local Veterinarian Clinic, Allandale Veterinarian Hospital, to ensure the surgery is completed on this puppy, now known as "Braveheart" .

"We are asking the public for their help with covering the costs of this surgery and others like it" says Melissa Bainbridge, Branch Manager of the Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch. "This surgery will be upwards of $2,500, including check ups and x-rays, to ensure Braveheart is healing correctly post operatively"

Donations are being accepted at The Ontario SPCA Barrie Branch at 91 Patterson Road.
