Sophie needs your help!
Sophie should be running and playing like other dogs, but instead she’s learning how to get around on three legs. The seven-year-old Shih-Tzu was so filthy and so badly matted that her hair cut off the blood supply to her left hind leg. She languished like that for months until her leg became gangrenous.
Anemic, and her little body full of infection, Sophie was in excruciating pain by the time she came into our care and received veterinary treatment. Her condition was so bad that the smell of neglect hung in the air, a nauseating reminder of what she had endured. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done to save her leg. It needed to be amputated to give her a fighting chance of survival.
This affectionate little dog is lucky to be alive. She somehow miraculously pulled through, but it has been a long road to recovery. If you would like to help, please make a special gift today to help Sophie, and other animals in need, get the life-saving care they deserve.
Without your support, new beginnings for animals like Sophie would not be possible.
